Here comes Turkey Day!
November 16, 2011
My favorite holiday is next week! Thanksgiving! And in case you didn’t know, Thanksgiving is only celebrated in the United States. Canada has something similar, but Thanksgiving started here in the year 1621 when the Pilgrims came over from Europe. It was a way to celebrate the harvest of the season. It makes sense to me, since it happens in fall so most of the vegetables we’ve grown over the summer are ready to eat!
What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food? I like the dressing, or stuffing, the best. My mom makes the best stuffing ever! We also eat a vegetable every year called rutabaga and we make it just like mashed potatoes. It’s a kind of root, and when you buy it, it’s usually covered in wax, which helps keep it fresh. You should ask your parents to try it sometime; it is really yummy!
Have a great weekend!
