New furry friends!

OMG! Princess Twilight Sparkle and mini Spike come out on Friday, August 2 at Build-A-Bear Workshop and I’m so excited I can barely wait! She is so pretty and sparkly and looks so amazing in her cape and sparkly shoes. She is on the website right now if you want to see her and haven’t yet. (Just get an adult’s permission and go to.) I’m a big fan of My Little Pony, and my mom was too when she was little, so we’ll have to get these new furry friends when they come out later this week.
One of the other things I want to do this week is make pickles with my mom. You know how I told you my dad has an AMAZING garden this summer? Well, it’s practically bursting at the seams with cucumbers. So since we can’t eat them all right away, we’re going to pickle them! Do you like pickles? I love, love, love them. I could eat a whole jar all by myself. And it’s pretty easy to make your own. One of the recipes we have just tells us to put some of the cucumbers, whole or sliced, in a jar with a combo of white wine vinegar, water, dill (which is another thing we’re growing in the garden), and if you want you can add other spices like garlic or peppercorns. Then you put everything in the fridge for a few days and the turn into pickles! The longer you leave them in the more pickly they get, but I know it will be hard for me not to eat them right away.
Another one of my favorite ways to eat cucumbers is to slice them really thin, and lay them on top of a piece of lightly toasted bread with mayo on top. Then I sprinkle some pepper (my mom buys this fancy white pepper that’s really good) on top and voila! It’s delicious and totally screams summer!
Have a good one!

Guess what? A very special day is coming up on Sunday. It’s called Parent’s Day. It’s not a big deal in most countries, but I think it’s a good reason to do extra stuff for parents to show that you appreciate them. Even little stuff like doing the dishes, taking out the trash, keeping the counter clean all day, asking if they need any help in the yard, or, if you have a garden, weeding it for them. I mean, they do awesome stuff for us all year long, they are always there to drive us around to practices and lessons and games and our friends’ houses, and it’s just nice to do something nice for them, you know?
Speaking of gardens, my dad’s garden is crazy awesome this summer! He planted tons of stuff this year that he doesn’t normally plant, like onions, broccoli (yum!), rhubarb (which takes a few years to grow before it’s ready to eat), and zucchini. Now, let me tell you about those zucchini plants. Those things are GIANT! They are probably five to six feet across and their leaves are as big as a dinner plate! And what’s funny is that they produce these tiny little green zucchini squashes from that giant plant. But they’re awfully good, especially when they’re cooked on the grill!

What’s up friends?
So I don’t know if you know this, but most of our friends in the United Kingdom are just now coming up on what is called Half-Term. That means that they have a break from school. And that also means that my friends everywhere are celebrating summer now! Even though I love school, I think there is something really special about summer. It’s a time of year that I have made a lot of memories and new friends. It’s also a time of year when I’ve traveled with my family and have done a lot of things I’ve never done before.
I think one of my favorite things to do in the summer is go fishing. I don’t even care who I go with, except I don’t like it if they talk too much or are loud because it scares away the fish. But most of the people I’ve been fishing with are awesome. Some people think you absolutely have to go fishing in the morning, but I also like fishing in the afternoon. It’s so relaxing. I also like it because it lets you sit there and think and be in nature. And that’s why summer is so awesome, cause you can go fishing during the day time.
Check ya later!
