• Snow Day

    January 18, 2012

We finally got a snow day today! And it snowed  A LOT! So I wonder if we’ll even have school tomorrow. I haven’t gone outside yet because it’s still dark. But when my alarm woke me up and I saw that it was all white outside, I ran downstairs to check the news, and sure enough, NO SCHOOL! Man, since I already did my homework now I get to work on my buddy’s birthday present!

My friend’s birthday is right around Valentine’s Day, which is February 14, so she is having a pink birthday party. She said that just means that EVERYTHING is pink: the cupcakes, the icing, the plates, the napkins, her outfit, the decorations, her dog’s outfit, and on and on… My gift is going to be totally pink so it fits in. I’m gonna make her one of those cool fleece blankets, the ones you make that have knots all around the edges that you don’t have to sew.

Yup, perfect. Plus, it’s still cold in February here, and everyone could always use a cozy blanket, right?

    Talk to ya later!

  • First Family Night

    January 16, 2012

    Happy Monday!

Remember when I said my New Year’s resolution was to start a family night? Well I planned the very first one for this week and it’s going to be PAWsome! I’ve got my menu ready to go and I’m outthinking about which game to play.

It’s not easy to pick a game that everyone likes. Since everyone in my family is good at something different, maybe we won’t play a game this time. Maybe we’ll make a dessert together and watch a movie instead. But wait, what if it’s really pretty outside? Then maybe we should go on a walk to the park after dinner. Oh, I don’t know! I have to talk to my brother; I know he’ll want to pitch in. Since I did the food part, he can figure out what activity we should do. It’s good to have the family help with family night, right?

Have you thought about what kind of family night you would plan for your family? It doesn’t have to be anything special, just something you do together.

    Talk to you later!

  • Map happy

    January 11, 2012

I can’t believe we only have 5 months of school left! It’s awesome to think about summer right now, when it’s so cold outside. But there are still lots of things I want to learn this year.

My teacher does this thing called Mapping Mondays. She gives us the name of a continent to look at and study over the weekend and on Monday mornings she tells us the name of a country on that continent. Then, we have to do our best to draw it! (I drew an awesome Italy and took a picture for one of my blogs last year. See the Mapping Mondays! entry, in the September 2011 archives.)

Anyway, she said we really need to start studying the whole globe because at the end of the year she is going to give everyone a blank map of the world for us to draw! That’s hard! But I’m excited because she has told us waaaaay ahead of time so I have lots of time to study and practice.

    After all, practice makes perfect!
