• Girl Scouts Week

    What’s up?

Did you guys know that next week is Girl Scouts Week in the United States? I think being a scout rocks. You learn so much that you can use for the rest of your life! Are you a Girl Scout? If you are, I bet you have learned at least one thing that you’ll remember someday, right? I have learned how to organize fundraising events, which is really important and helpful knowledge. It’s a good skill to have because you have to make lists of things you need, talk to people you don’t know, direct people and tell them what you need help with.

This year the Girl Scouts are celebrating their 100th anniversary! You will be able to make your own 100th Anniversary Girl Scouts Bear at Build-A-Bear Workshop starting March 16. It’s so cute and it’s going to be very popular so be sure to get yours when they come out!

    Catch ya later!

    Hello there!

This is the perfect season for artichokes. Usually they start to come into season in March in North America. Artichokes are a unique vegetable and can be hard to figure out how to eat if you’ve never had anyone teach you. Here is a little step-by-step guide with pictures that I made to help you learn how to cook them, with your parents’ help.

    1.       With an adult’s supervision, cut the stalks off the artichokes so they stand up.

    2.       Put the artichokes in the sink and run water into them for a couple of minutes each to wash out any sand or dirt that might still be inside.

    3.       Place them in a pot, cover them with water, put lots of salt in the water to make them flavorful and cover them with a lid. Boil them for about 25-30 minutes with the lid on.

    4.       When they are ready to eat, use tongs to place them in a colander upside-down. This will help drain the water out of them.

    5.       To eat them, pluck off a leaf, and instead of biting it, just scrape the meat off the end with your two front teeth.

    6.       Once you get to the bottom of the artichoke, have an adult help you scrape off the “choke” with a butter or table knife. Then you can cut up the delicious heart, dip it in butter and eat it!

    Hey all you furbulous fans!

Today is Leap Day. That is SO cool to say. Yup, it’s Leap Day! This day only happens once every four years so it’s pretty cool that I get to talk to you guys on this rare day in history! Are you going to do anything special today? I am. Remember how I told you I made that time capsule? My dad is helping me find a good spot to bury it today.

He said it might be a good idea to mark it with a stone or something, so that I can remember where it is when I go back to dig it up in four years.

There’s still plenty of time for you to make a time capsule, too! Ask your friends if they want to add a little note to make it even more special.

    Have fun!
